Charlie is a New Hampshire native born and raised in Concord and Tamworth, New Hampshire. He resides in Gilford with his wife and two sons.
Charlie earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1982 and his Juris Doctor degree from the Vermont Law School in 1986. He joined the law firm of Haughey, Philpot & Laurent, P. A. in March of 1988.
Charlie is a member of the Belknap County and New Hampshire Bar Associations. He has served in the Bankruptcy Advisory Panel for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire since 2000. He was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire in 1987.
He currently manages Haughey, Philpot & Laurent, P. A.'s bankruptcy department where his practice concentrates on creditor bankruptcy representation. Charlie served as the creditor representative of the Bankruptcy Court's Electronic Filing Committee and has extensive knowledge of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. His other areas of practice include real estate law, civil litigation, creditor representation and collection.
Charlie is active in community service acting as a member of the Board of Directors for the Lakes Region Youth Hockey Association after becoming involved with that program in 1992. He acts as the Association Coaching Educator in addition to coaching youth hockey teams. Additionally, Charlie is an assistant coach with the Laconia Leafs Junior Hockey Program, a member of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League and has been associated with that program since 1999.
Prior to attending University of Wisconsin – Madison, Charlie graduated from the Middlesex School in 1978. Charlie’s interests outside of the law include international relations, Irish history, angling for striped bass, ice hockey and golf.
